It might be fine with a third order polynomial.
The old ASE
https://wiki.fysik.dtu.dk/ase2/Utilities#the-equationofstate-module had
7 different equations of state you could fit to: "Murnaghan", "Birch",
"BirchMurnaghan", "Vinet", "PoirerTarantola", "AntonSchmidt", "Taylor".
