Thank you for python-ase-3.1.0.751.tar.gz,
The testsuite runs and ends without error
though I could not have installed matplotlib.
.
Then I am now following the tutorial and the quick over view
in the web site.

Some of the example in the quick over view require
 the specified module explicitly.
If the quick over view is updated, it will be good for the beginner
to add the suitable import command.

P.S.
Now I have other little problems about the external viewer.
1)ase.gui does not write a temporary file for VMD
 when I select View ->VMD menu of ase.gui though VMD launches.
 The command, view(slab, viewer='vmd'), works fine.
