[ase-users] VMD Crashes when Called with View

Dear all,

I have been using ASE for some time now. I have run into an issue which 
I can't resolve. I would like to use the ase.visualize.view command with 
vmd. I am running using the newest version of VMD on Ubuntu 14. I run 
the command:
ase.visualize.view(ase_xyz,viewer='vmd')
where ase_xyz is my atoms object. When I run this command, vmd opens and 
displays the structure and then closes immediately. I do not understand 
why this happens. My view command works fine with other viewers such as 
ase-gui and avogadro. However, with vmd it shuts instantly. This happens 
on all machines where I have ase and vmd installed and does not seem to 
be unique to the installation I currently have on this machine.

Any help in this matter would be very much appreciated.
