Dear all ,

For quite some unexpected results when running ASE on win7. The computer
has two accounts , a normal user and an admin account.
For any software installation i have to either be in the admin account
or give temporary admin rights.
I recently updated ase via :

pip install --upgrade --user ase

obviously with the command prompt in admin mode.
I have one folder named ase in :

/*C:\Program Files (x86)\Python27\Lib\site-packages\ase*/

some other ase related files can be found in:

/*C:\Program Files (x86)\Python27\Scripts*/

this files all have a time stamp of the*date when i first installed ASE*
on this PC, and ase is imported from this
location when i am on my standard account.

Now i have and additional ase folder located in:

/*C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Python\Python27\site-packages\ase*/

and some more files in

/*C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Python\Scripts*/

If i am in the admin account i can call ase-gui from this folder. Theses
files are from the date when i updated ase.
So this seems to be the latest version of ase.

In all cases "ase test" does not work!

I am asking myself a few questions.

Why do i have two versions of ASE?

And how do i uninstall the version in the admin account and update the
initial version?
This version should be used by all users.

If i need to uninstall ase how can i do this without uninstalling any of
the dependencies!

All the best

fabian
