[ase-users] ase fails suddenly / No Menu in gui

Dear all
I run ASE in ubuntu and recently installed Gwyddion and p4VASP as well 
as a few additional python packages.
Gwyddion required gobject to be installed.

Both the ASE gui and P4VASP show no Menu items. I did not change 
anything intentionally.

if i run ase test , i get this output:
