Dear all,

ASE 3.17.0 is now available on pypi [1]. This release has an
unusually large number of changes which will be visible here once the
web page rebuilds tomorrow (November 13):

  https://wiki.fysik.dtu.dk/ase/releasenotes.html

Until tomorrow, the changes can instead be found here, listed for 'master':

  https://wiki.fysik.dtu.dk/ase/dev/releasenotes.html

Two major things worthy of note:

  * 3.17.x will be the last ASE series to run on Python2, barring a
major manifestation of conservative Python users wielding torches and
pitchforks

 * Scipy >= 0.14.0 is now a dependency. Previously Scipy was optional.

A big thanks to the many people who have helped with this release.
Hopefully we can do more frequent releases in the future.

Best regards
Ask
