[ase-users] Reverse color maps in ASE GUI?

Hi all,
I'm curious, how does ASE populate the colormap list? Does it just import from Matplotlib? Does ASE need more or better color maps?
I'm bit of an advocate for colorimetrically designed colormaps. It might be worth exploring colorcet, cmocean, and CMasher.

Ignore this question - just realised I can reverse the limits i.e. min = +q, max = -q.
Apologies for spamming everyone…!

Hi,
Is there a reason that reverse colour maps are disabled for coloring atoms in ASE GUI, as per this line: https://gitlab.com/ase/ase/-/blob/master/ase/gui/colors.py#L95<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https*3A*2F*2Fgitlab.com*2Fase*2Fase*2F-*2Fblob*2Fmaster*2Fase*2Fgui*2Fcolors.py*23L95&data=02*7C01*7CLogsdailA*40cardiff.ac.uk*7Ce2bc681c315847454b0608d7dbccf96e*7Cbdb74b3095684856bdbf06759778fcbc*7C1*7C0*7C637219545718872420&sdata=nu1G3kZ5FipjflwIn6ZN*2FUpV0*2BAaMHR3RESAmXeh8ZU*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSU!!Dq0X2DkFhyF93HkjWTBQKhk!Afk6pJktvUMf0Cd04sTgDguMBK8z9ZQ5zDYkPGKAJFfG8-nEb_5_lrLKFFrb_LmBrloparryKvjA$>
In particular, I’d like to use the bwr (blue-white-red) in the traditional manner for +q and -q, but this would require the bwr_r colormap as the numerical limits are setup the opposite way round currently (i.e.-q to +q run blue to red); happy to edit source code if necessary, but wondered if there was a reason this wasn’t generally available.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
