Hi Thomas,
I know this is very late. I am slowly working on a Blender module for ASE. Blender will export STL files which might be readable by your CAD program. So it might happen this year.
Best,
-Mike

Subject: [ase-users] Export to CAD files?
Hi,
TLDR: Can we export an ASE object to some sort of CAD file for import into a CAD program?
Looking through the gallery (https://wiki.fysik.dtu.dk/ase/dev/gallery/gallery.html<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wiki.fysik.dtu.dk_ase_dev_gallery_gallery.html&d=DwMFaQ&c=yHlS04HhBraes5BQ9ueu5zKhE7rtNXt_d012z2PA6ws&r=IWIXV02QNefgPQmc-Ovk6evJ6KEOZjyl5g4atrVIlcJ4WAvRgH8dNpuAIeIrVHn4&m=powrSwIm3rdYViFhuNZX61zlU25fiauIY53dU7WOeJI&s=v7ODl-tDS9yUrfLm-KNi2mmcW7iDDyaMfsgeJUanLJQ&e=>) today, I noticed that the first example (Dissociation of oxygen on Pt(100)) looks quite appealing, and started digging to work out what it is that generates it. POV-RAY, which is used to generate it (but isn't mentioned in the docs as a necessary dependency), is rather old, and I needed to fiddle with it a bit to get it to work on the example.
Are there any alternatives to POV-RAY in order to export a file for CAD-software input? I had a quick look, but it doesn't look like the .pov format supportedby POV-RAY is supported by other softwares.
Best,
Thomas
