(Right!)

FWIW the test is skipped if DISPLAY is not set, or if tkinter is not
available.   The display is (apparently) set to "10.8.0.34:0.0" and
therefore the test runs.  If there's better way to test whether the
display *should* be valid then we could do that instead.
