Hi!

On Tuesday June 22, in Lyngby, we will run an ASE code-sprint starting
at 10:00 danish time. At 18:00 there will be pizzas and beer, and then
we'll see how long we continue after that.

The topics to work on will be:

* Clean up of the ase namespace.
* Preparation for Python 3.
* Reduction of then number PyLint messages.
* Increase test coverage.
* Get rid of remaining "import numpy as npy".

If you are not in Lyngby and you would like to help, please join us on
the #gpaw channel on irc.freenode.net.

Some notes:

Use of the stuff that is currently in the ase namespace should be
deprecated in the 3.5 release and we'll remove it for 3.6. We will
introduce and ase.all namespace with most of the stuff that one used to
get with a "from ase import *".

Python 2.6 has a '-3' option that will warn about things that will break
in Python 3.

PyLint reports are here:

https://wiki.fysik.dtu.dk/ase/development/python_codingstandard.html#output-from-pylint-run-on-ase

Someone should run a coverage test for the ASE-testsuite.

If we run out of things to do, it would be good to take a look at these
tickets:

  https://trac.fysik.dtu.dk/projects/ase/report/1

Some of them might be easy to fix and I think most of them are no longer
valid - those should be closed.

We will try to sit outside if the weather is good, so make sure your
wireless works.

Jens Jørgen
