[ase-users] Export to CAD files?

Are there any alternatives to POV-RAY in order to export a file for
CAD-software input? I had a quick look, but it doesn't look like the .pov
format supportedby POV-RAY is supported by other softwares.

Best,

Hi Thomas,

I'm not familiar with commercial CAD packages, but there is an extension permitting import from .xyz and .pdb structure formats into the Blender 3D graphics package. https://development.root-1.de/Atomic_Blender_PDB_XYZ.php ASE can write to those file formats; I have used this successfully in the past to create high-resolution renders.

Good luck,

Adam

(Actually, I mostly use my package ascii-phonons which imports a v_sim-format .ascii file with vibrational displacement data, but not every atomistic calculation is a phonon calculation.)
